espresso on this page. We did this because there
are a lot of people searching for 'expresso machines'
instead of 'espresso machines' . Welcome to our Expresso
Machine advanced search facility. The purpose of
this page is to help you quickly and easily find
the Expresso
machine you're
looking for. As you can see below, there is a vast
array of items that we found for you already, and
more are often available.
Before You Buy Your Espresso Machine
Espresso machines come with various features, some
of which will be important to you, and others that
you will find less important. All depending on your
own taste and what machines will suit your needs.
You may be surprised at just how many different
makes and models of expresso machines are available.
Simply buying the same brand you see in your local
coffee house may not be a good idea. The successful
coffee houses have lots of experience and they know
exactly what features that need. For example, speed.
A coffee house places a lot of emphasis on speed
because they know their customers will not be happy
waiting for long times in line. You, on the other
hand may not mind waiting an extra 30 seconds for
your cup of java. Clean up, speed to heat up, etc.
may not be as important to you either.
One feature you will see in all commercial coffee
houses is the 'built-in' grinder'. Granted, you can
buy a separate coffee
grinder but then you will have to experiment
with it's settings to get them to grind the coffee
to the consistency required by the espresso machine
for the best flavor. With a built in grinder you
can adjust the level of coarseness your grind produces
and the built in grinder is calibrated to the expresso
machine. Without a built in grinder, you will need
to calibrate your separate coffee bean grinder
to correspond with your new espresso machine. With
a separate grinder, be prepared to experiment to
find the grind that perfectly suits your espresso
machine.
You don't have to be perfect though because many
of the new machines will tolerate a significant variation
in the coarseness of grinds and still produce excellent
results. A too fine grind can clog a machine and
the upscale machines have a safety valve that lets
the pressure of the water increase if you have set
the grinder for too fine a grind. The problem is
that more or less pressure (which determines how
fast the water is passed through the grounds) will
cause the flavor to vary a lot. So the best thing
is to experiment to find the best grind and then
remember the setting or mark the grinder dial at
that setting. Of course, if you grind the beans too
coarse, the water passes through too quickly and
brew is much weaker in flavor and color.
Most newer machines are fairly quiet when they are 'pulling a shot'. This was not always the case. Some older machines could make a great espresso but everyone around knew you had the machine going. Nowadays you can hold a normal conversation while the espresso machine is 'doing it's thing'.
